Ejiogu and Anubi arrested
Two Dolphins players, Chijioke Ejiogu and Kola Anubi have been arrested by the management of Akwa united FC for what is considered fraud against the club. The arrest was effected a fortnight night ago, detained at a police station until Dolphins’ Team Manager; Diepreye Fiberesima signed an undertaking for their release.
The players alongside Victor Babayaro allegedly collected money meant to be part payment of sign on fees as well as three months salary from Akwa United and then returned to Dolphins. Victor Babayaro however escaped while Ejiogu and Anubi were not so lucky.
According to Joseph Eberefe, the Club’s secretary, the act was seen as fraud because they received money from Akwa united and then returned to Dolphins. “We thought that was a good way to get our money back from them”, he states. “We have somebody working on the case right now so I may not be able to say much. They were wrong and must be told and that is why we took that action.”
It is alleged that between the three of them close to six million naira changed hands from Akwa United. The three players decided to leave Dolphins after the club was relegated.
